Dear reader, great news: Not one, but two more seasons of Bridgerton have been added to the series.
The popular period drama, which was produced by Shonda Rhimes, will air on Netflix through Seasons 3 and 4. The streamer’s faith in the show is demonstrated by the fact that the decision is made before Season 2 has even aired.
According to a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix’s VP of global TV Bela Bajaria stated that the creative team behind Bridgerton has “some exciting plans for the future,” and “we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show.” We intend to remain in the Bridgerton industry for a very long time.”
A portion of Shonda Rhimes’ statement read, “This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work, and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix.”
What will occur in the third season?
Season 3 of Lady Whistledown has just been revealed to be all about her and her love story.
She stated, “Like Lady Whistledown, I have kept a secret for quite some time, and I can confirm to you all that season three is the love story of Colin and Penelope.” Since two weeks into the second season, I have kept that secret.”
During the first two seasons, Penelope keeps her feelings for her close friend Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton, secret from him. However, towards the conclusion of season 2, it appears that Colin begins to view Penelope through new lenses, realizing that she has always been there for him.
Newton stated to Netflix, “There’s so much love for that relationship.” This brings with it pressures because some people are very excited about this story coming to light. However, it also really warms me.”
Since Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel focuses on Benedict Bridgerton and her fourth on Penelope and Colin, this is a departure from her original timeline. However, since the show’s inception, viewers have been eagerly anticipating a development in the friendship, so they won’t be let down.
“I think you’ll think, ‘Get it together!’ if you see Penelope swooning over this boy for another season. At the panel, Coughlan said, “Come on, move on, and get over it.”
In season 3, Netflix also revealed that Penelope and Colin’s “friendship potentially blooms into something more all while balancing her double life as Lady Whistledown.”
Production is going on, but it might take longer.
A brief clip from the cast that Netflix shared confirmed that filming for season three had already begun.
“Hello again from Bridgerton! The tweet stated, “Season 3 is officially in production.”

During its annual fan event, Tudum, the streamer also provided a sneak peek at the first episode of season 3. Coughlan drops in to read from the episode’s script in the clip, revealing the title, “Out of the Shadows,” as well as the first few lines of Lady Whistledown’s narration. The clip begins with an interview and painting challenge between Luke Newton and Claudia Jessie, who plays Eloise Bridgerton.

When will it fall?
Season 2 just came out today, March 25, so it’s too soon to say when the next two seasons will be released. However, based on the source material, we do know what the story will focus on: Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn.
The TV show, created by Chris Van Dusen, was designed to follow Quinn’s novels’ format, which each installment focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling. Phoebe Dynevor plays Daphne in the first one, and Jonathan Bailey plays Lord Anthony in the second one. Benedict (played by Luke Thompson) would be the focus of the third season, and Colin (played by Luke Newton) would be the focus of the fourth.
The third book in the Bridgerton series, An Offer From a Gentleman, is based on Cinderella. Sophie Beckett, the earl’s daughter who is treated with contempt as a servant by her stepmother, sneaks to Lady Bridgerton’s famous masquerade ball. There, she and Benedict fall in love with one another right away.
There are eight Bridgerton siblings and eight books all together. Whether the Netflix series will also have eight seasons remains to be seen.
